For Clean Air Day 2023, we are launching our Clean Air Trail in collaboration with The Making Rooms and Re:fresh. These trails are based in Witton Park and Bold Venture Park and will walk you into areas of clean air, whilst providing fun facts with our interactive signs. 

Our aim is to raise awareness of air pollution and encourage residents across BwD to leave their vehicles at home, go outdoors and enjoy nature whilst visiting our green spaces.

Witton Park Trail  

The Witton Park Trail 12 signs starting at the entrance to the park by Witton Arena. This trail takes you past the bike and skate park, along the path to the duck pond, up to the greenhouses, into the woods and back down to the main field. From the end of the trail at the 3G pitches, you can choose to walk back to the café, play in the park or head into the woods.

Bold Venture Park Trail 

This Bold Venture Trail has 8 signs starting by the gate at the main entrance. This trail takes you round the duck pond, up through the trees, back down to the fountain and round the other side of the pond. Here you can choose to have a play in the park, move to the upper part of the park or walk back to the pond.

Clean Air Resources 

  • Our Clean Air Toolkit is for KS2 pupils and includes lesson plans and information about how you can improve air quality both in your community and at school 
  • Action For Clean Air organise Clean Air Day every year. Lesson plans, resources and project plans are available on their website for all ages 
  • The Greenhouse Project Lancashire Wildlife Trust are bringing back to life these long abandoned greenhouses to grow food and work together with local people to show how to live a life more in harmony with the natural world. Diverse activities are available that also lead to better physical and mental health as well as supporting local wildlife and producing seasonal food. Visit the Greenhouses on the Witton Park Trail
