The Public Health Annual Report 2024 takes the form of a short video following the theme of “Start Well, Live Well, Age Well”. The video aims to tell the story of public health through the voices of our residents and communities, including their experiences of health and wellbeing and of using our services. The report illustrates just some of the public health services in our borough including:
Start Well: Health visiting services, encouraging young people to keep active and oral health support.
Live Well: Smoking cessation services and drug and alcohol recovery support.
Age Well: Health homes service, supporting people to keep happy and health in their homes.

This Public Health Annual Report seeks to outline the issues faced by the borough during the pandemic, the continuing legacy and the resilience of our residents. The cost of living crisis is also discussed, and how the borough can continue to grow and prosper.

This Public Health Annual Report seeks to outline the scale of the problem of child poverty in Blackburn with Darwen, as well as identifying actions that we can take locally to address the issue. We want to celebrate the work that is already being done, but also challenge ourselves to address the root causes of child poverty, and ameliorate its effects where it is possible to do so.
