On Thursday 10 September 2026, Blackburn with Darwen will be marking World Suicide Prevention Day by bringing together local people, peer support groups, community organisations and partners to raise awareness, reduce stigma and share messages of hope.
What’s Happening?

Join us for a walk from Darwen to Blackburn, raising awareness that suicide can affect anyone and that suicide prevention is everybody’s business.

๐ฏ๏ธ World Suicide Prevention Day Vigil
The walk will conclude with a 45-minute Vigil outside Blackburn Town Hall, beginning at 12.30pm.
The Vigil will include:
- Invited speakers
- A 40-second silence to remember those lost to suicide
- Information about local support services
- Messages of hope and recovery

Become an Orange Button Holder
Consider completing mental health and/or suicide prevention training and becoming an Orange Button holder, helping people access support and start conversations about mental health.
